Activated Alumina:
A highly porous granular form of aluminium oxide having preferential absorptive capacity for moisture and odour contained in gases and some liquids. It is used as a catalyst or catalyst carrier in chromatography and in water purification. This active alumina is manufactured from aluminium hydroxide by dehydroxylating it in a way that produces a highly porous material.
